Last year, a viral video showing various celebrities riding a hoverboard caused controversy after it was exposed as a hoax. Millions were disappointed that their dream of a working hoverboard actually wasn’t going to be become a reality.
However, just a year later, the creation of a legitimate hoverboard has been announced.
On their website last week, car manufacturer Lexus posted a promotion about their new device SLIDE, a working hoverboard.
“When technology, design, and imagination come together, amazing things can be achieved. Presenting SLIDE,” Lexus announced in a tweet.
The Lexus Hoverboard uses magnetic levitation to achieve amazing frictionless movement. Liquid nitrogen cooled superconductors and permanent magnets combine to allow Lexus to create the impossible.
The video below was released by Lexus, showing the hoverboard in action.
